# Import from another app

> Bring your saved articles, labels, and highlights from Pocket, Omnivore, Instapaper, and other read-later apps.

Open Settings, then **Import**. Nothing is added to your library until you have checked what will come across.

## Where you can import from

| App | Which file to use |
| - | - |
| Pocket | The CSV or zip export you downloaded before Pocket closed. |
| Omnivore | The zip file from its export, without unpacking it. PDFs inside it come across too. |
| Instapaper | In Instapaper's settings, export your articles as a CSV file. |
| Readwise Reader | Export your Reader library as CSV. To bring highlights too, zip it together with the CSV from Readwise's highlights export. |
| Raindrop | In Raindrop's settings, export your bookmarks as CSV or HTML. |
| Wallabag | From the list of all entries, export as JSON. |
| Linkwarden | The JSON file from Linkwarden's data export. Files you uploaded to Linkwarden aren't in that file, so only saved links come across. |
| Browser bookmarks | Export your bookmarks as an HTML file from your browser's bookmark manager. Matter and many other apps can export this format too. |

Apps marked **Tested** have been tried with real export files. For the others, check the preview carefully before you import.

## Import your library

**1. Choose the app**

Pick the app you're coming from and choose **Next**.

**2. Upload the export file**

Choose the file and then **Upload and check**. Files can be up to 50 MB. If yours is bigger, email it to `support@ReadMeliora.com` and we'll help you import it.

**3. Check what will come across**

The preview has four tabs: **Articles** (new ones), **Labels**, **Already saved**, and **Left out**, with the reason each one was left out. On a wide screen, a summary beside the table shows how many go into your Library and your Archive, how many are PDFs, and how many highlights come across.

**4. Import**

Choose **Import**, which shows how many articles will come across. Articles are added in the background, and you can keep using the app.

## What comes across

* Tags and folders become labels. On the Labels tab you can rename a label, type the name of a label you already have to merge into it, or clear it to leave it off.
* Archived and read status, saved dates, and highlights come across where the export has them.
* Articles already in your library are never overwritten. They only gain missing labels and highlights.
* When an export doesn't include an article's text, ReadMeliora fetches it from the web in the background.

You get a notice and one email when the import is done.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Imported articles and their pictures don't count toward your monthly upload allowance. See [Storage](https://docs.readmeliora.com/settings/storage.md).

## If it doesn't look right

If the preview looks wrong, choose **Something's off? Send us the file**. We'll import it for you and fix the importer.

If you picked the wrong app, ReadMeliora may spot it and offer to read the file as the right one. You won't need to upload it again.

## Undo an import

Your past imports are listed under **Your imports** on the Import page. Choose **Undo** on one to remove what it added. Articles you have read, highlighted, or changed since are kept.

## Your export files

Export files you upload are deleted 30 days after the import finishes, unless you sent the file to us for help.
