# Export your library

> Download a copy of your library for backup or to move into another app.

Open Settings, then Export.

**1. Choose a preset**

* **Everything**: a full zip with articles, files, highlights, feeds, and data.
* **Just links**: `links.txt`, `links.csv`, and `bookmarks.html` for other apps.
* **Markdown notes**: articles and highlights for Obsidian or Logseq, with images.
* **Custom**: pick exactly which files to include.

**2. Choose a scope**

Choose All articles, Inbox (unread), Library, Archive, Specific labels, or Date range.

For Specific labels, check the labels to include. For Date range, set From, To, or both.

**3. Download**

Choose **Download export**. ReadMeliora prepares the file in the background. A notice at the bottom of the screen offers Download when it is ready.

## Custom contents

With the Custom preset, check any of these:

* Plain link list (`links.txt`)
* CSV for Pocket and similar apps
* Netscape bookmarks HTML
* Articles as Markdown
* Articles as standalone HTML
* Original uploads (PDF, DOCX, images)
* Pictures embedded in articles
* Highlights per article (Markdown)
* All highlights (CSV)
* Highlight screenshots
* Newsletter emails as HTML
* Labels (JSON)
* RSS feeds (OPML)
* Full data (JSON / JSONL)

## Export a few articles

Select articles in a list and choose **Export** in the selection bar. The Export page opens with a Selected articles scope. See [Several articles at once](https://docs.readmeliora.com/organize/bulk.md).

## Available downloads

Finished exports are listed under **Available downloads** on the Export page, with the time each one was ready.

> [!NOTE]
>
> Each file stays available for 12 hours. You can start two exports every six hours.

To export only your highlights, use **Export** on the Highlights page instead. See [Highlights](https://docs.readmeliora.com/organize/highlights.md). To run an export from a script, see [Export a backup with the API key](https://docs.readmeliora.com/advanced/export-backup.md).
