# Read and archive

> Mark an article read when you mean to, and move finished pieces to the archive.

ReadMeliora does not mark an article read because you opened it. It stays unread until you say so.

## Mark read

Choose Mark read on the article, or press `m`. It leaves Inbox and stays in Library.

Choose Mark unread, or press `m` again, to return it to Inbox.

You can do this for one article or for a selection. See [Several articles at once](/organize/bulk).

## Archive

Archive is for pieces you want out of the library without deleting them.

* Choose Archive in the list or the reader.
* Press `e`.
* Drag the article onto Archive in the sidebar.

From the archive, that control is Move to library. Pressing `e` moves it back.

After you archive an article, move it back, or mark it read, ReadMeliora offers undo.
