# Highlights

> Save a sentence or a screenshot, add a note, and export the list.

Highlights stay with the article, and they also appear together on the Highlights page.

## Highlight a sentence

In the reader, select the text. A panel opens. You can do this in an article, a PDF, or the original email when that message is open.

## Capture a region

Choose **Capture**, or press `Shift+H`. Drag a rectangle over the article. ReadMeliora saves that region as a screenshot highlight. Choose Cancel capture, or press Escape, to leave capture without saving.

## Color, note, and tags

The panel offers four colors: yellow, green, blue, and pink. Add a note if you want one. Tags are optional and comma separated. Choose Save.

Open **Highlights** in the reader to see the highlights for this article and jump to one. A screenshot is labeled Screenshot. Other highlights show the sentence you selected.

## The Highlights page

Choose Highlights in the sidebar.

* Search notes, the highlighted text, tags, or titles.
* Filter by one article, or show only highlights whose article was deleted.
* Choose Edit note to change the color, note, or tags.
* Choose Open to go to the article, or to the original address when the highlight has a real web or file address. Open is unavailable when there is no address to open.
* Choose a screenshot to enlarge it. Close, or press Escape, to leave the large view.
* Choose Delete to remove that highlight.

## Export

Choose **Export** to download the highlights you are currently viewing as `highlights.md`. A filter or a search changes which rows are in the file.

<Warning>
Deleting an article does not delete its highlights. They remain on the Highlights page, marked Article deleted.
